Schiphol Plaza, 8 December 2025 – Workplace Pride celebrated an important milestone yesterday with the official kick-off of the very first Young@Workplace Pride Mentorship Program, marked by an inspiring and insightful opening training session.
The event featured Dr. Masuma Shahid from the Erasmus School of Law, Erasmus University Rotterdam—an assistant professor specialising in AI, queer data, and LGBTQ+ rights, and a respected global advocate and speaker. Dr. Shahid delivered a powerful session exploring how the rise of artificial intelligence is influencing the lives, safety, and visibility of LGBTQ+ communities worldwide.
With more than 50 participants joining both in person and online, Dr. Shahid guided the audience through real-world scenarios illustrating AI’s dual impact: its potential to empower queer communities by expanding access, connection, and support—and its significant risks, including algorithmic bias, digital discrimination, and threats to privacy and security in an increasingly data-driven world.
After the session, attendees continued the conversation during a warm and engaging networking reception, complete with bites, drinks, and the opportunity to build new connections across the community.
Workplace Pride extends a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who joined this meaningful kick-off event. As AI continues to reshape society, conversations like this are vital to ensuring the future is built on principles of inclusion, equity, and human rights.
This event was proudly hosted at Aegon in partnership with the Aegon Proud community.
