About the PoC Community

Launched in 2024, the PoC Community exists to address the unique, intersectional experiences of Queer People of Colour in professional environments.
Our goal is to create spaces for connection, understanding, and progress — ensuring that everyone, regardless of background, feels empowered to succeed.

By tackling multiple minority stress and challenging exclusionary behaviours, we’re building a future where every organisation can thrive through true diversity.

Queer People of Colour (QPOC) experience unique challenges in the workplace — navigating both racial and LGBTQIA+ biases. While many organisations have Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, few truly address these intersecting identities.

Workplace Pride’s PoC Community was founded to change that. Our mission is to ensure that no one has to leave part of their identity at the door.

Our Mission

To amplify the voices and lived experiences of Queer People of Colour and embed intersectionality into workplace inclusion strategies across the globe.

We do this by:

  •     Raising awareness of how racial and LGBTQIA+ identities intersect at work.
  •     Building a knowledge base through lived experiences, research, and dialogue.
  •     Empowering organisations to design DEI policies that reflect real intersectional inclusion.

The Vision Paper

Our Vision Paper is a collaborative project — developed by and for QPOC professionals.
It will outline practical, intersectional strategies that organisations can adopt to:

  •     Foster belonging and equitable opportunities.
  •     Build stronger representation at all levels.
  •     Create workplaces where every voice is heard and valued.

Through this initiative, we are not just raising awareness — we are building a framework for systemic change.

Why It Matters

Queer People of Colour face multiple layers of bias that impact visibility, leadership opportunities, and psychological safety.

Our work focuses on five key challenges:

  1.   Intersectional Awareness – Addressing the overlap of race and LGBTQIA+ identities in DEI strategies.
  2.   Representation Gaps – Increasing QPOC visibility in leadership and organisational culture.
  3.   Safe Spaces & Networks – Creating dedicated, supportive environments for QPOC employees.
  4.   Global & Cultural Nuance – Recognising regional and cultural differences in workplace inclusion.
  5.   Policy Tools – Equipping organisations with actionable, intersectionality-informed instruments.
